Welcome, Amanda!

Amanda's due date finally arrived, but Amanda did not yet. Despite loads of advice about how this or that sort of exercise would make her come, absolutely nothing happened in the labor department until the day after her due date. On that day, Mom started feeling little contractions during her baby shower. However, when she and Dad went to the hospital after the shower, the hospital said to come back later. So, Mom waited. And waited. By about 5 a.m. the next morning, the contractions were noticeable enough to keep Mom from deep sleep, but still nothing that seemed like hospital material. So, Mom waited more. And more. Around 8 p.m. that night, Mom finally felt like she had a chance of being admitted to the hospital, so back to the hospital she and Dad went. Two to three hours after they got there, Mom was finally officially admitted. At some point, Mom decided the contractions were no fun anymore and so an anesthesiologist came to administer an epidural. But, Amanda still did not come. So, Mom waited some more while her legs got very numb. Around seven the next morning, things started picking up a bit, and finally the top of Amanda's head was visible. The nurses commented on how much hair Amanda had. Mom didn't get to see for herself until about two hours later when Amanda was finally born at 9:45 a.m. weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. Hooray for Manda! (and Mom & Dad!)
