Amanda has heard from us many, many times about how our student family budget simply cannot afford 99.9% of the stuff she says she wants when we go to a store (not to mention the multitude of other reasons for not giving in to every "gimme"). Somehow or other this has convinced her that our cash on hand is $5. Hence the following conversation on the way out of the store yesterday . . .
"Mommy? How much did this cost?"
"Six dollars."
(Pause) "But we only have five dollars!"
